    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Pitcher made and stamped by "John Burger, Rochester."

     

    This is the mark of John Burger who founded the family's pottery under this stamp and ran it from 1854-1867 (William Ketchum, American Stoneware, p. 74).

     

    This beauty sports a Sleek Tall and Narrow Form with Pinched Spout, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Gorgeous Tulip Executed with a Slip Cup in Bright Cobalt.   The floral has four leaves, four buds, and a blossom with six petals.  Stands 10 1/4" tall.

     

    Good Condition.  An X-shaped hairline on the back at the bottom (closeup), only one of the two lines shows inside (closeup) and three chips on the bottom at the edge on the left side (7/8" to 1 1/2"), two of which slightly show on the side.  No rim or spout chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
