Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by "Harrington & Burger, Rochester."
This jar is the work of Thompson Harrington and John Burger who worked together in Rochester, N.Y in the old Nathan Clark pottery from 1851 to 1854 when Burger bought out Harrington (William Ketchum, Jr., Potters and Potteries of New York State, 1650-1900, p. 377).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Large, Bright Cobalt Tulip and Daisy Decoration. Five leaves and a stem support the tulip blossom with five petals and the daisy blossom with 11 petals. Stands 10 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Two 1/4" chips on the inner seating ring and a 1" chip on the rim in the back. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
