    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this fantastic 2 Gallon Jug made for the merchant, "Arthur M. Eastman, Manchester, N.H." 

     

    It was made by Frank Norton and Frederick Hancock who operated the pottery in Worcester, Massachusetts from 1858-1877 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 52-53).

     

    This beauty features the Merchant Advertising with Cobalt Wash and a Huge Norton Parrot Sporting a Dotted Tail standing between Two Plumes.  This is the deluxe Norton parrot having the size, dots, and double plume.  Stands 13 1/2" tall.

     

    Excellent Condition.  A 1 1/2" vertical hairline at the base that wraps under 3", and scattered light staining on the back.  No spout or base chips, cracks, or restoration.  Some bubbling in the cobalt in the making.
