    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Unusual 1/2 Gallon Country Spongeware Pitcher from the South.

     

    Dating around 1890, this beauty is Wheel-Thrown with a Lightly Flared Rim and Body, Pinched Spout, Close-to-the-Body Handle, and Eleven Daubs of Deep Cobalt around the Body.  Stands 7 1/2" tall.   

     

    Excellent Condition.  A narrow 1/4" glaze rub on the top of the rim.  That's it!  No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A 1/2" stone ping inside in the making.
