Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare Blue and White Peacock Bowl.
Dating to the early 20th century, this beauty features a Thick Rim with Pseudo-Dental Molding and a Base with Peacocks Strolling Down a Brick Path Among Exotic Flowers. Diffused blue coloration. Very Strong Mold LInes. Measures 3 3/4" tall and 9 3/8" wide.
You can see this piece in a more typical Canted Bowl Form in Terry Taylor and Terry and Kay Lowrance, Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware, p. 165. This version is not pictured in the typical blue and white reference books.
Fair Condition. Eight chips on the outer edge (1/8" to 3/8"), a 4" horizontal hairline running halfway down (closeup 1), and another small one in the bottom edge (closeup 2). No inner rim or base chips, stains, or restoration.
