Item 8688
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Small 7 1/4" Ovoid Jug made and stamped by the "Beaumont Pottery, York, Maine."
It is the work of Jerry Beaumont who inscribed his cross and the date of 1986 on the bottom. In my humble opinion, Mr. Beaumont has been and continues to be one of the best contemporary potters in America today. His work from York, Maine was some of his finest.
This beauty features an Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration. This is a classic decoration from the late 19th century on New York and Vermont stoneware. Stands 7 1/4" tall.
Comes from an extensive Massachusetts collection whose owner had personal ties to both the potter and the artist. She gave me the privilege of buying this and many other Beaumont items (including the sign from the York, Maine pottery).
Exceptional Condition. As made. No damage of any kind.
