    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare 3 Gallon Churn made and stamped by "A. L. McChesney.  

     

    This is the work of Andrew McChesney who started a pottery in Newport, Ohio in Tuscarawas County in 1843 and ran it until the late 1840's (F. Robert Treichler, A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware, p. 107). 

     

    Comes from the Treichler collection. 

     

    This beauty features a Churn or Jar Form with Inner Rim, Pottery Stamp, and Cobalt Accents on the Stamp and Front of the Handles.  Stands 13" tall.

     

    Excellent Condition.  A minor 3/8" flake on the underside and some very light staining.  That's it!  No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
