Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare 3 Gallon Stoneware Flower Pot made and stamped by "A. K. Ballard, Burlington, VT."

This is the mark of Alfred Ballard who ran the family pottery under this stamp from 1867-1874 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 46).

This beauty sports Tooled Rim, Applied Handles, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Dotted Floral.  Measures 11" tall and 13" wide across the top.

As you know, flower pots were in the direct line of traffic, especially when outside.  Few were made in this size and many fewer survived.  Especially in this condition.

Excellent Condition.  A minor and faint 3 1/2" surface craze line on the left side toward the back (closeup).  That's it!  No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  Exceptionally clean glaze.
