Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this masterwork 1 gallon jar made and stamped by the "Beaumont Pottery, York, Maine."

It is the work of Jerry Beaumont who signed the bottom "JB" 1985 with a Cross.  In my humble opinion, Mr. Beaumont has been and continues to be one of the best contemporary potters in America today.  His work from York, Maine was some of his finest.

This piece is also initialed "DF" for Diana Friebely currently known as Diana Card, the folk artist.  She created the Folk Art decoration on this jar.

This beauty features the Pottery Stamp, and a Church Yard Scene.  The Church takes center stage in front of the fenced cemetery and its monuments and a road below with two horse-drawn buggies.  Additional houses and trees occupy the horizon.  The decoration definitely classifies as folk art. The cobalt is brilliant! Stands 9 1/2" tall.

Comes from an extensive Massachusetts collection whose owner had personal ties to both the potter and the artist.  She gave me the privilege of buying this and many other Beaumont items (including the sign from the York, Maine pottery).

Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of  any kind.
