Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Superb 1 Gallon Stoneware Wax Sealer Canning Jar from "Hamilton & Jones, Greensboro, PA."
This is the work of Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro, Pennsylvania from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Circa 1870, this beauty features a Tooled Grooved Rim, Canted Sides, Cobalt and Wavy Stripe at the Top, Company Advertising Surrounding a Rose in the Middle, and a Straight Stripe at the Bottom. The stencil is complete and crisp and the cobalt rich and dark. Strong contrast and exceptional visual appeal. Stands 9 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A faint stain run on the left side. That's it! No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
