Item 8606
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this masterful 1 gallon jar made and stamped on the shoulder by the "Beaumont Pottery, York, Maine" and incribed on the bottom "J. Beaumont, April 9, 1987 #7."
This is the work of Jerry Beaumont whom I believe has been and continues to be one of the best contemporary potters in America today. His work from York, Maine in the 1980's was some of his finest.
This beauty features the pottery stamp with cobalt wash, bottom inscript, and a Fantastic Bearded Man with Lincoln Hat in a Chair on an Oval Rag Rug with a Perky Cat on his Knee. The cobalt is equal to anything Bennington produced. Stands 11 1/4" tall
Comes from an extensive Massachusetts collection whose owner had personal ties to the potter. She gave me the privilege of buying this and many other Beaumont items (including the sign from the York, Maine pottery).
Exceptional Condition. As made. No damage of any kind.
