Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this gorgeous 1/2 gallon Jar made and stamped by the "Beaumont Pottery, York, Maine."

It is the work of Jerry Beaumont who signed the bottom with the initials "JB" and "JW" as well as a Cross and the date 1985.  In my humble opinion, Mr. Beaumont has been and continues to be one of the best contemporary potters in America today.  His work from York, Maine was some of his finest.

This beauty features the Traditional Storage Jar Form, Pottery Stamp, and a Most Delightful Combination of 19th Century Decorations.   The center bird comes from the Fort Edward NY pottery of the 1880's, the leaves framing the bird come from the Remmey pottery of Philadelphia, and the four stripes going all the way around come from the Greensboro and New Geneva PA potteries.  And the combination works!  Stands 7 1/4" tall.

Comes from an extensive Massachusetts collection whose owner had personal ties to both the potter and the artist.  She gave me the privilege of buying this and many other Beaumont items (including the sign from the York, Maine pottery).

Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.
