Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 5 Gallon Churn made and stamped by "Haxstun, Ottman & Co., Fort Edward, N.Y."
This is the stamp of Andrew K. Haxstun and William and Gilbert Ottman who ran the company from 1867-1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 68).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Large Bird on a Branch Decoration. Stands 17" tall.
Good Condition. Small nibbles around the inner ring where a lid would fit, a 1" chip inside the rim, a large X hairline on the left side (closeup), and a small surface-only Y on the bottom. No outer rim or base chips or restoration. A drying line at the rim above the right handle in the making.
