Item 5772
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Pair of Blue and White Spongeware Pitchers made and stamped on the bottom by the "Burford Bros., E.L.O."
This is the mark off the Burford Brothers of East Liverpool, Ohio.
Dating to the late 19th century, these beauty sport the Distinctive Sponging of the Burford Factory. Looks like Jackson Pollock got his inspiration here! Dark cobalt on a white background for strong and pleasing contrast. Small thumbgrip on the handle is a welcome feature too! Stand 6 1/4" and 7" tall respectively
Very Good Condition. The shorter pitcher has two faint lines on the left side of the spout (closeups 1 & 2), and the taller pitcher has a faint x-shaped hairline on the front bottom to the left (closeup 3). Otherwise both pitchers are as made.
