Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this very attractive Blue and White Cup and Saucer made by "R. Hammersley" who made pottery in England for the American market.
Dating to the mid-19th century, this beauty features a Cut or Design Sponge Border and a Transfer Print of a Folk Art Eagle Standing on a Flag Shield and a Banner Reading, "E. Pluribus Unum." The cobalt is rich and dark. The cup measures 2 3/4" tall and 3 3/4" wide across the top, and the saucer measures 5 3/4" wide.
Fair and Good Condition. The cup has a hairline from the rim to the base. Otherwise as made (closeup). The saucer has an extremely faint 3/4" line at the rim and a 3/8" flat chip on the edge. Otherwise as made.
