  • Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Blue and White Spongeware Child's Teaset.

It was made in the late 19th century and made in Staffordshire, England by Charles Allerton & Sons.  The pieces are all marked "Staffordshire England" except a subset of 6 saucers marked "Charles Allerton & Sons, England.  The cups are not marked.

This set has a teapot with lid, sugar bowl with lid, creamer, five cups, 8 saucers, and five underplates.

There are variations in the coloration of the pieces and appear to be a darker set with some lighter additions.

The three key pieces are excellent.  The teapot is mint,  the sugar bowl has minor glaze nibbles on the seating ring where the lid sits, and the creamer has an 1/8" nibble on the shoulder.

The cups are excellent, with one having a 3/8" narrow chip on the outside of the rim.  That is all. The saucers and underplates are all excellent.
