Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Sleepy Eye Stoneware Flemish Stein.
It was made by the Weir Stoneware Company of Monmouth, Illinois (1899-1905). This was made as a premium for the Old Sleepy Eye Milling Company of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota (Jim Martin and Bette Cooper, Monmouth-Western Stoneware, pp. 112-113).
This beauty features a Profile of Old Sleepy Eye in Profile with His Name Below on One Side, and his Village with Someone Cooking Outside on the Other Side. A bust of Old Sleepy Eye on the handle as a thumb grip. All the details are sharp and crisp and the embossing highlighted in darker cobalt. Measures 7 1/2" tall.
