Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Handsome 2 Gallon Stoneware Ovoid Jar made and stamped by "N. Clark & Co., Lyons."

 

This is the work of Nathan Clark who ran the pottery in Athens, New York and a satellite pottery in Lyons, New York from 1822 to 1852 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 66, 73).

 

This beauty sports an Early Ovoid Form, Thick Tooled Rim, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accent, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Floral with 8 Leaves, Curved Stem, and Rounded Blossom.  Stands 12" tall.

 

Very Good Condition. A couple minor nibbles on the inner seating ring where a lid would sit, a chip on top of the rim in the front (closeup), two narrow chips outside the rim (1/8", 3/8"), and a 1/8" nibble on the right handle.  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  Some bubbling in the cobalt in the making.
