Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Yellow Ware Butter Crock with Original Lid. It was part of the "Dandy Line" of the Brush McCoy Company in Zanesville, Ohio.
Dating to the early 20th century, this beauty features Three White Slip Bands around the Middle with "Butter" Prominently Displayed. Measures 5 1/4" tall and 7 1/4" wide.
This piece is pictured in Lisa McAllister and John Michel, Collector's Guide to Yellow Ware, Book I, on p. 83.
Good Condition. The base has a very tight 2" hairline from the rim in the back, six pinhead-size nibbles around the inside of the rim, six nibbles around the base (1/4" or less), and some age crazing. No outer rim chips or restoration. The lid has four small chips on the underside at the edge (3/8" or less), and some staining from use. No hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
