Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Merchant Jar that reads, "Made for Wm. Grange & Co., Queensware Dealer, 711 N. Second St., Philadelphia."

The decoration makes it easy to attribute this jar to Richard Remmey of Philadelphia. He ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).

Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features Five Lines of Impressed Advertising with Cobalt Wash and Three Tulips Around the Middle.  Stands 8 1/2" tall.

Excellent Condition.  Two very flat flakes on the top of the rim (3/8", 1/2").  That's it!  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
