Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this early 2 Gallon Ovoid Crock made and stamped by "William E. Warner, West Troy."
This is the mark of William E. Warner who ran a pottery in West Troy, N.Y. using this impression from 1836 to 1839 (private research).
This beauty features an Early Ovoid Form with Tall Rim, Inscribed Shoulder, Bold Pottery Stamp, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip. The tulip sports two dotted leaves, wildly curved stem, and a blossom with seven petals. Measures 10 3/4" tall and 8 1/2" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. Two 3/16" nibbles under the right handle. That's it! No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Exceptionally clean glaze.
