Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 5 Gallon Churn made and stamped by "W. Roberts, Binghamton. N.Y."


This is the mark of William Roberts, son-in-law of Noah White of Whites Utica Pottery. He founded a branch of the family business in Binghamton in 1848 and ran it until 1888 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71)


This beauty features a semi-ovoid form with the company stamp with cobalt wash and a Bright Triple Orchid Decoration. Measures 18" tall.


Excellent Condition. Two minor chips on the inner rim where a lid would sit (1/8", 1/4"), a 1" chip outside the rim above the left handle, a 1/2" chip on the back of the left handle, and two chips at the base (1/2"). That's it!  No front rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
