Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this gorgeous Blue and Gray Butter Crock by the Whites Pottery of Utica, N.Y.
It was made between 1890 and 1907 when Whites made its fabulous molded stoneware.
This beauty features Two Bucks in a Meadow on One Side and Two Hunters with their Trophy Buck n the Other. Detailed trees and grass provide the background. The lid repeats the grass background along with an additional two bucks and a doe. The base measures 4 1/2" tall and 7 1/4" wide
There are six sizes to this series: 1 to 6 in order from smallest to largest. This example is the No 2 and has crisp details and strong coloration.
Excellent Condition. The base has a single 1/8" nibble on the outside of the rim. Otherwise as made. The lid is mint. It has a 3/16" kiln touch on the back of the head of one buck in the making.
