Item 5026
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Whites Utica."
This is a work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 69-70).
This beauty features the pottery stamp with cobalt wash and one of White's signature decorations: an Elaborate Floral Executed with a Slip Cup. The floral has leaves on the left of the stem that look like a butterfly has landed, and a rose in bloom and more leaves on the right. Lots of other detail too! Gorgeous! Stands 16" tall.
Very Good Condition. A 1/4" chip on the back by the handle, three chips on the base (1/4" to 1/2"), three chips on the underside at the edge (1/2" to 3/4"), and some staining from use. No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Small bubbles in the cobalt in the making.
