Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Whites Utica."

This is a mark of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , pp. 70-71).

This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Fantail Bird on a Branch Decoration Executed with a Slip Cup.  This was one of White's signature decorations.  Its simplicity is rivaled only by its beauty.  This particular bird has lots of wing feathers and five distinct tail feathers.  Stands 10 3/4" tall.

Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.   A small kiln touch on the top of the handle and a 3/4" chip below the bird--both in the making.
