Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Exquisitely Molded Covered Canister with Embossed Decoration with Original Lid and Bail Handle.
It was made by the Whites of Utica Pottery between 1890 and 1907 when Whites made its fabulous molded stoneware. A similar piece can be seen in Christopher Bensch, The Blue and the Gray: Oneida County Stoneware, pp. 25, 26.
This beauty features a Raised Background of Geometric Designs that Hosts Three Embossed Leaves with Gorgeous Cobalt Overlay. The lid repeats the geometric designs. Measures 6" tall and 6 1/2" wide.
Excellent Condition. The base has a shallow 3/8" chip inside the rim. That's it! No other chips or any hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. The lid has six minor flakes on the bottom of the overhang (pinhead-size to 3/16") that are too flat to show outside. No other apologies.
