Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Whites Utica, N.Y."
This is a mark of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , pp. 70-71).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp and a Parrot Perched on a Stump Decoration. This was one of Whites signature decorations. Its simplicity is rivaled only by its beauty. This particular parrot is larger than most and nicely perches front and center on the jug. Stands 10 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. A small ping on the back to the left of the handle, a 3/4" chip on the underside at the edge on the left side, and some scattered small stains. No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. Thin glaze in the making.
