Coming  to you from Doc's Crocks is this  2 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made and stamped by "White's, Utica."

 

This is a work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 69-70.

 

Circa 1880, this beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and an Orchid with 10 Leaves and a Blossom with 12 Petals.  Orchids were a favorite decoration for this pottery.  Stands 11" tall.

 

Very Good Condition.  A 1/4" chip on the stem of the flower and some staining on the left side and back.  No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.  Some drying bubbled cobalt in the making.
