Coming to you from Doc's Crocks, is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Whites Utica."
This is a mark of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , pp. 70-71).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Parrot Perched on a Stump Decoration. This was one of Whites signature decorations. Its simplicity is only rivaled by its beauty. This example is masterful and all the cobalt is bright and glassy. Stands 13 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1/2" chip on the bottom edge, and some light staining mainly on the right side. That's it! No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A stone ping on each side in the making.
