Coming to you from Doc's Crocks, is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Whites Utica, N.Y."
This is a mark of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , pp. 70-71).
This beauty features the company stamp and a Parrot Perched on a Stump Decoration. This was one of Whites signature decorations. Its simplicity is only rivaled by its beauty. Stands 11 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 3/8" chip on the underside of the spout on the front, a faint 1" glaze-only line under the bird, and a narrow 1" chip on the heel. No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Some bubbles in the thickest part of the cobalt in the making.
