    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made and stamped by "White & Wood, Binghamton, N.Y."


    This is the mark of Noah White of Whites Pottery in Utica, N.Y. who ran the satellite pottery in Binghamton from 1848-1888.  He had a brief association with Wood as reflected in this stamp (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).


    This beauty features the pottery stamp and Large Orchid Decoration.  The outline of the floral is executed with a slip cup and the interior is brushed cobalt.  One half of the blossom with accented with a row of dots and dashes.  The blue is strong, smooth, and shiny.  Stands 11" tall. 


    Very Good Condition.  A 1 1/2" chip on the underside of the left handle, and staining from use on the left side.  No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
