Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Tiny 1 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "W. Roberts, Binghamton, N.Y."
This is the mark of William Roberts, son-in-law of Noah White of Whites Utica Pottery. He founded a branch of the family business in Binghamton in 1848 and ran it until 1888 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).
This beauty features a Small Size, Thick Tooled Rim, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Orchid Decoration Executed with a Slip Cup. This was a signature decoration for W. Roberts. Measures 6 3/4" tall and 8 1/4" wide across the top.
