Item 3949

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Tiny 7" Decorated Stoneware Jar.

This jar is easily attributed to Richard Remmey who made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9).

Circa 1870, this beauty features a Finely Tooled Rim and Shoulder for Easily Sealing with a Tie-down Cover, and Freehand Cobalt Comma Vining all the Way Around the Shoulder.   There are 33 Strokes of Cobalt in the 5 Units of Vining.  Stands just 7" tall.

Excellent Condition.  A minor 1/8" nibble on the rim.   That's it!  No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.    A slight indentation and hotter spot on one side in the making.
