    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Preserve Jar made and stamped by "T B."


    This is the work of Timothy Boggs of Snow Camp, Alamance County, North Carolina (1849 to ?).  Boggs worked in salt glaze as did other potters in this region of North Carolina, having been settled by Quakers from Pennsylvania.  


    This beauty features a Quasi-Bottle Form with Tall, Semi-Ovoid Form and Tall Spout with Narrow Opening.  "T B" is impressed on the shoulder.  Gray salt glaze.  Stands 11 3/4" tall


    Two other jars by Boggs are pictured in Mark Hewitt and Nancy Sweezy, The Potter's Eye: Art & Tradition in North Carolina Pottery, pp. 23 and 27 as pictured above. 


    Excellent Condition.  A 1/4" chip inside the spout, and a small rust stain on the back. That's it!  No outer spout or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
