Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this monumental 4 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "T. Harrington, Lyons."
This is the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, a Freehand Capacity Number, and a 3 Large Brushed Cobalt Leaves Traveling Up the Front-- all in bold cobalt blue! Stands 17 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. A large chip on the front at the bottom, and some light staining around the bottom. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. Any roughness on the very top of the spout is in the making from separating from the jug above it in the kiln.
