Coming to  you from Doc's Crocks is this rare 2 Gallon Ovoid Jug made by "T. Warne, South Amboy."

This is the stamp of Thomas Warne who made pottery under this name from around 1797-1805  (M. Lelyn Branin, The Early Makers of Handcrafted Earthenware and Stoneware in Central and Southern New Jersey, pp. 70-74).


This beauty features an Early Ovoid Form, Reeded Neck, and Pottery Stamp with Brown Slip Wash.  Additional slip decoration on the handle terminals.   Stands 14" tall.


Very Good Condition.  A 1" ping on the spout.  Three chips (3/4" to 1") on the underside at the edge and some minor chips around the base.  Staining in places from use.  No hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
