Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Unusual 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug Water Cooler made and stamped by "T. Harrington, Lyons."
This is the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, a Freehand Capacity Number, and a Large Brushed Cobalt Three Leaf Clover. The decoration is executed in bold cobalt blue! The water cooler opening is on the right side. Stands 14 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A small stain to the right of the spigot hole. That's it! No spout or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A small kiln touch to the left of the spigot hole in the making.
