Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Stoneware Jar made by "T. F. Reppert, Successor to Jas. Hamilton & Co., Greensboro, Pa."
Thomas Reppert made pottery in Greensboro from 1884-1890 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 157-159). He had purchased the old James Hamilton pottery.
This beauty features Two Top and a Bottom Stripe that Frame the Company Advertising that Incorporates Reference to James Hamilton. In the waning days of stoneware manufacturing, every potter was looking for some edge to compete. Reference to the quality stoneware of James Hamilton helped!
Very Good Condition. Some glaze wear on the back and a 1/4" chip on the left handle. The only real apology is the restoration of a 1/4" hole (bb gun?) on the right side that appears as a cobalt dot (closeups from both sides). No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or stains.
