Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jug made by "T. F. Reppert, Successor to Jas. Hamilton & Co., Greensboro, Pa."
Thomas Reppert made pottery in Greensboro from 1884-1890 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 157-159). This jug shows that he was trying to capitalize on the fame and fortune of his predecessor in a time when the stoneware market was declining.
This beauty features the Company Information with Accents Stenciled in the Middle, a Squiggle Stripe at the Top, and a "Glazed" at the Bottom. The "Glazed" has baffled stoneware collectors and adds an element of mystery! Stands 11 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1/4" chip on the spout and some very light staining on the back. That's it! No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
One of the better Reppert jugs that you will find.
