Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cluster of Grapes
The decoration is that of Alfred Ballard of Burlington, Vermont who ran the family pottery from 1867-1874 ( William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 46).
This beauty sports the Syrup Jug Form with Spout and a Cluster of 17 Grapes Hanging from a Vine with Three Leaves. Bright, dark, and shiny cobalt blue too! Old carved wooded stopper come with it. Stands 11 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. On the spout are three chips (1/4", 1/2", 3/4") and a 1/2" surface ping line on the spout and back, but not distracting (closeup). Two stain runs on the left side from use. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. Stone showing the stem of the vine in the making.
