Coming to you from Doc's Crock is this wonderful 2 Gallon Preserve Jar whose decoration indicates that it was made by Seymour and Bosworth, Hartford, Connecticut.

This duo ran the pottery in Hartford from 1871 to around 1890 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, 61).

This beauty features one of this pottery's signature decorations: an Impressive Blue Bird on a Log Decoration. The bird is well-drawn and the log has many fine details. Very attractive cobalt. Stands 11 1/2" tall.

Excellent Condition. Small nibbles and chips around the seating rim inside two adjacent chips outside the rim behind the right handle (1/4", 3/8"), and some very light overall staining from use. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
