    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jar whose form and decoration indicate that it was made by Stephen B. Sweeney, Henrico County, Virginia, James River.

    Dating to the second quarter of the 19th century, this beauty features a Carefully Tooled Rim and Shoulder, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accents at the Terminals, and a Freehand Cobalt Flower on Each Side.  Stands 12 1/2" tall.

     

    Excellent Condition.  Small chips along the underside of one handle and two 3/4" chips on the other.   Four small chips on the base (1/8" to 3/8").  That's it!  No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A stone ping on one side near the bottom in the making.
