    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon 2 Gallon Jug made and Stamped by "S Pepson, Albany, N.Y."  


    This is the work of Stephen Pepson who took over the pottery of the Orcutt's in West Troy in 1866.  Production was not prolific.  (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 67. 


    This beauty sports a Tall and Narrow Form, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Freehand Capacity Number, and a "Tomato on a Tornado" in Brilliant Cobalt.  Exceptionally clean and shiny example.  Stands 14" tall.


    Excellent Condition.  Light staining to the left of the handle.  That's it!  No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
