Item 3171

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon Advertising Canteen that reads, "Stenley Tomlinson, Groceries, Fort Worth, Tex."

Dating between 1890 and 1907, this beauty was made by the Whites of Utica Pottery and is a wonderful example of the skill that Whites attained in molded stoneware.

The canteen features an embossed Drinking Scene with Three Men Imbibing Around a Barrel in a Wine Cellar.  The scene has a beaded border.  The company advertising is stamped twice on each side.   Measures 7 1/2" tall and 6 1/2" wide.

You can see similar examples in Christopher Bensch, The Blue and the Gray: Oneida County Stoneware , p. 27.

Excellent Condition.  A minor 1/8" nibble on one handle holder. That's it!  No other chips or any hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
