Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful  2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by the "Somerset Potters Works."


This pottery was located in Somerset, Massachusetts and operated by Leonard and Benjamin G. Chace from 1847-1882 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 51).


This beauty features the pottery stamp with cobalt wash and Two Eucalyptus Leaves Crossed to Frame Some Dots and Squiggles.  All the decoration was executed with a slip cup in strong cobalt.   Stands 13 1/4" tall.


Very Good Condition.  A 1/4 flake on top and two 1/2" chips on the side of the spout, and a 1/2" chip with 1" surface line at the base.  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
