Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made for "Smith & Brown, 40 Charlotte St., Utica, N.Y."


It was made and stamped by "N. A. White & Son, Utica, N.Y."  This is a work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, American Stoneware , pp. 69-70).


Dating around 1880, this beauty features the Pottery Stamp and Four Lines of Stenciled Cobalt Advertising in Large Block Letters.  Stands 13 3/4" tall.


Very Good Condition.  A faint 4" glaze line on the left side not visible inside (closeup), and a 1/4" and 1" ping line on the base.  No spout chips, stains, or restoration.  A 3" surface-only drying line on the underside in the making.
