Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by "Smith & Day, Manufacturers, Norwalk, Con."


This is the mark of Asa Smith and his Cousin, Noah Day who worked in Norwalk from 1843-1849 ( William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 58-60).


This beauty features a Crisp Pottery Stamp and a Fancy Freehand Loop-de-Loop Garland Across the Front.  Stands 8 1/2" tall.


Excellent Condition.  Very minor nibbles on the seating ring inside, a 3/8" chip on top of the rim, a 5/8" chip on the rim in the back, and small chips on the left handle (1/8" to 3/8").  That's it!  No inner top rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
