Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Salt Glaze Semi-Ovoid Jug signed on the bottom with a Cross and the Initials JB.
This is the work of the master potter, Jerry Beaumont who has been making fantastic stoneware for more than 40 years.
This beauty features a Small 7 3/4" Size and an Incised Bird on a Branch with Cobalt Fill. The salt glaze has pieces of melted iron in it as was typical of early American stoneware. All in all it looks like an early 19th century jug. In fact, I had this at recent show in Vermont at Fletcher's Field and it was picked up from the table by over half of the passersby thinking it was old.
Excellent Condition. A couple pinhead-size nibbles on the bottom edge.
