Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Jar Stamped "R.C.R. Phila."
This is the stamp of Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Dating to the 1860's, this beauty features the Pottery Stamp and a Garland of 5 Leaves Around the Middle, Each with 6 or 7 Fronds. Nice strong, bold, and assured brushstokes. Stands 8 1/2" tall .
Excellent Condition. A single 5/8" chip outside the rim. That's it! No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A glaze run on one side in the making.
