    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by "Satterlee & Mory, Fort Edward, N.Y."


    This is the stamp of George Satterlee and Michael Mory who ran this pottery together from 1859-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 68).


    This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Large Cobalt Bird on a Branch Executed with a Brush.  The bird has a lot of individual feathers and the branch has 7 leaves.  Stands 14 1/4" tall.


    Excellent Condition.  Two chips on the underside of the seating ring inside where a lid would sit (1/2", 3/4"), three chips inside the top rim (1/4" , 3/4", 1"), and some residual waterglass staining inside and outside.  No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.  Some cobal loss on the right of the decoration on the making.
